Sunday January 14, 2018

Here is a peek at Rev. Choe’s sermon notes:

Call of Samuel depicted in 1 Samuel 3:1-20 will be the Scripture reading for this coming Sunday.

A process I use in preparing for a sermon writing is what I call a process of moving I to We.  After reading scriptures a few times, I begin to ask a series of questions to myself.  These are some of the things I would ask first: What did I hear?  What do I like and dislike?  Why?  How am I hearing the message? Asking questions to myself before I move further, helps me to see where I am in relation to the Scripture I am reflecting on.

These are some of the questions I asked on the 1 Samuel 3:1-20 after my initial questions:

Why did I decide to follow the Way of Jesus?

Why and how did I come to St. Paul’s?

How are those two decisions affecting my life and faith journey?

What about you?

How did you decide to follow the Way of Jesus?

Why and how did you come to join St. Paul’s community?

How are those two decisions affecting your life and faith journey?

How would you partner in the Covenanting relationship with Elizabeth Sarginson as we commit to one another as God’s people on this Sunday?

Let us reflect on those questions together when we meet on Sunday, January 14, 2018.  See you at 10 am!
